Pura Vida. The pure life. It's the Costa Rican motto that urges everyone to embrace the moment and fall into nature. You will notice from the moment you arrive that the pace is slower, the people are kind, the geckoes giggly and the beach vistas perhaps unparalleled to any other that you've seen. Be patient. Allow your mind to unwind. Everything is a little more rustic, a little more dusty, a little less harried and more relaxed. Simply put, pura vida.
Once you arrive at San Jose International Airport (SJO), there are two puddle jumper air services to get you to Tambor on the Nicoya Peninsula: Nature Air (www.natureair.co.cr), which is located at a separate airport 30 minutes by taxi from SJO, and Sansa Air (www.flysansa.com), which is in a mini-terminal within walking distance and adjacent to SJO. For convenience sake, we recommend booking with Sansa Air (a subsidiary of TACA and United Airlines).
There a taxi will drive you to the Villa in Mal Pais or you can rent a car with Budget, www.budget.co.cr
If you prefer to go overland, rent a car at the International Airport Juan Santamaria in Alajuela and drive 2 hours to Puntarenas, take the ferry to Paquera (approx. 1hr. 15 mins.) and from there drive 1-1/2hrs. to Mal Pais through Tambor and Cobano.
